Emily Packard

Emily Packard is a violinist and teacher active in the classical and new music scenes in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has studied violin with Bettina Mussemeli, David Abel, and Daniel Kobialka, and improvisation with Fred Frith and Joelle Leandre. She performs regularly in the Monterey, Santa Cruz and Vallejo Symphonies and in the Arabic Orchestra of San Francisco. Emily is also a member of the string quartet Opabinia, which specializes in works by contemporary composers. She currently lives in Alameda with her composer husband Damon Waitkus and their ever expanding collection of folk instruments. She teaches violin at Starland Music in Alameda, the Northern California Music and Cultural Center in San Francisco, Oakland School for the Arts, and is happy to join the faculty at Crowden Center for Music in the Community.
