Teaching Credential in Music
Laura Sherman has been playing piano since she was 5 years old.She started teaching music in Santa Cruz in the late '70s both in elementary schools and private studio. Since then, Laura has taught children and adults all around the Bay Area. She has taught many kinds of classes including piano, chorus, singing and percussion, movement, and Orff classes. At present she specializes in teaching young children from pre-school through 3rd grade.
Laura also enjoys performance and appears occasionally in restaurants, clubs, and private parties. She also plays solo and duo for seniors at several Senior Residence facilities.
Laura started the business Music-Go-Round in 2004 to reach out to young children and their families and offer her services. She believes that all children are musical. Children learn in a playful, yet intimate environment. She includes songs from the American culture and folk music from around the world. Children learn to sing, dance , play with scarves, play musical games, develop their musical abilities, and have lots of fun in her classes.
