Louise Milota
Louise Milota was born in Saint John, NB, Canada. After studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music with the Swiss pianist Pierre Souvairan, she received the Licentiate Diploma in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Toronto. A Canada Council Fellowship enabled her to study at the Institut Jaques-Dalcroze in Geneva, Switzerland where she completed both the Certificat and the post-graduate Diplôme in Eurhythmics, Solfege and Improvisation.
Piano performances have included solo and duet recitals, radio and TV appearances in Canada, the West Indies, Norway, and Switzerland, as well as in the US.
Since immigrating to the Bay Area in 1989, Louise teaches privately at her home studio and at the North Berkeley Piano School. She has also taught at the San Francisco Conservatory, the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto and the Napa Valley Summer Music Camp. Louise is now an Emerita member of the College of Examiners of the Royal Conservatory of Music Examinations, following almost 25 years as a Piano Examiner, listening to students of all levels from coast to coast in Canada.
Locally, Louise is on the Executive Boards of the Alameda Branch of the Music Teachers’ Association of California and the Berkeley Piano Club, and is a member of the Etude Club, the Contra Costa Performing Arts Society, and the Amphion Club.
