Diploma, Conservatory of Lucerne, Switzerland
Pia Siegwart, a native of Switzerland, holds a Diploma in piano and piano pedagogy (equivalent of a Master's Degree) from the Conservatory of Luzern, Switzerland.
For over 25 years, she taught individual and group piano lessons to children and adults at several music schools in Switzerland. She has maintained a private studio at her home in Berkeley since 2002.
Ms. Siegwart was trained in piano group teaching by Wolfgang Schmidt-Koengernheim, Musikakademie Mainz, in "Taketina Rhythm Awareness in Individual Music Instruction” by Martin Ledergerber, Luzern, and in child-appropriate music theory teaching by the developer of the "Music Mind Games," Michiko Yurko. She has been teaching this method to music teachers in workshops in Switzerland and is now translating the Music Mind Games Method into German. In 2006 she completed the training as an Orff Music Teacher at Mills College in Oakland and The San Francisco School.
She is a member of the California Music Teacher's Association, the American Orff-Schulwerk Association, as well as its Northern California Chapter.
