Community Music Day
Sunday, October 20, 2013, 10 am-3 pm
Crowden Music Center
FREE to the entire community!
Join us for musical fun throughout the day! Community Music Day is Crowden’s largest outreach event, attracting around 1,700 individuals each year.
Instrument Petting Zoo
Kids and adults alike explore, touch, and learn to make sounds on all the different instruments in a symphony orchestra, with the help of our young Crowden student Zookeepers! We even have special miniature string instruments for tiny hands and fingers.
Very First Concerts "Small Instruments, Tall Instruments: the Highs and Lows of the Orchestra"
From the piccolo to the double bass, musical instruments come in all shapes and sizes. Come on a listening adventure as SFCO music director Ben Simon leads you on a tour to the outer edges of the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra. All you need to bring: your ears, your eyes, and your parents.
Repeat performances at 10:40am, 11:20am, & 12:00pm.
Family members of all ages can sing, dance, move, and drum together in our short class demonstrations.
Construct your own instruments to make music at home with!
Relax from the crowds in the “chill” room, where we’ll show music-related movies.
Drop into our newly renovated auditorium for musical performances all afternoon. Featuring a special interactive and educational chamber performance by Crowden faculty members Laura Scarlata and Sharon Lee Kim as "Duo Camaraderie," Crowden School students, and San Francisco Girls Chorus!
