Community Music Day

Sunday, October 25, 2009, 10 am-3 pm

Crowden Music Center

FREE to the entire community!

Join us for musical fun throughout the day! Community Music Day is Crowden’s largest outreach event of the year, with attendance averaging 1,000 people each year.

Instrument Petting Zoo

Kids and adults alike explore, touch, and learn to make sounds on all the different instruments in a symphony orchestra! We even have special miniature string instruments for tiny hands and fingers.

Very First Concerts "Meet the Composer" concerts

The San Francisco Chamber Orchestra performs short and engaging programs based on the musical theme "Meet the Composer.” Meet Mr. Bela Bartók and learn about his trampings through the Hungarian/Romanian countryside in pursuit of folk tunes and how these folk tunes inspired his composing. The program will involve lots of dancing from our young audience!

Tumbling mats for wriggling toddlers, short selections, and hands-on musical activities make this the perfect way to introduce the youngest children to the joys of live classical music. Repeat performances at 11:00 am, 11:40 am, 12:20 pm.

Mozart and Constanze

Meet the immortal composer and his beautiful wife in person!

Class demonstrations

Family members of all ages can sing, dance, move, and drum together in our short class demonstrations.

Instrument making

Construct your own instruments to make music at home with!

"Chill" room

Relax from the crowds in the “chill” room, where we’ll show Fantasia and Dr. Suess's The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T.
