Outreach and Facility Use
Outreach Programs
CCMC brings outstanding music classes into the community directly with our Outreach Programs. CCMC actively seeks to build long-term relationships with schools, churches, and community centers. Through these relationships, CCMC hopes to a) reach out to children for whom music education might not otherwise be available, and b) identify motivated young people who would benefit from further music instruction at Crowden, with support from our financial assistance program. Current outreach partners include Washington Elementary (Berkeley Public School District) and Resurrection Lutheran Church (Oakland).
Facility Use
Crowden is filled year-round with a wide variety of music education and performance activities. In addition to our own programs, we serve over 3,000 people each year by providing rehearsal and performance space for local music teachers and music organizations.
Recent community partners have included Berkeley Opera, Berkeley Symphony, Chora Nova, EarPlay, Junior Bach Festival, Music Discovery Workshop, Music Teachers’ Association of California (Alameda County Branch), Music Together®, Musical Sprouts, Oakland Youth Orchestra, Pacific Mozart Ensemble, San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, Summer Music Berkeley, Sycamore Strings Academy, Young People’s Symphony Orchestra, plus studio recitals for many local music teachers.
Though Crowden’s community programs are funded in part by our partners, none of these programs would be possible without the generous support of many individual, government, corporate, and foundation donors.
Interested in using space at Crowden?
Crowden makes a limited amount of rental spaces available to musical organizations and private studio teachers for rehearsals, concerts, and recitals. Please note that we are unable to accomodate rentals that are not music related. For more information, please contact ccmc@crowden.org or (510) 559.2941.
