2006-07 Fifth Grade Class Chair-Sculptures

Value: $100 each

T-11 – The Elephant
T-12 – The Sloth
T-13 – The Rat
T-14 – The Bird

Charged with personality and wit, these chair-sculptures were made by Sofie Siegmann’s 06-07 fifth-grade art class with technical assistance from Juan Rodriguez. The sculptures were created last spring as props for the production of The Four Refugees: A Riddle With Music, a play with original music written and composed by The Crowden School fourth and fifth grade students. The Four Refugees tells the story of Big Elephant, Lazy Sloth, Bossy Bird, and Greedy Rat, who journey together and learn to use their good qualities—strength, calm, leadership, and resourcefulness—to find the marvelous tree of fruits. Rich symbolism, striking form, fine craftsmanship, and wonderful Crowden memories—what more could you ask for? Ah, yes, you might even be able to sit on these works of art!
