Why Support Crowden?

The Crowden Music Center serves as a vital musical hub for the Bay Area, with over 6,000 individuals attending classes, workshops, rehearsals, concerts, and other events each year. Crowden is committed to reaching out to individuals for whom music education would be otherwise unavailable—to this end, 45% of our students receive financial aid.

Without the support of friends and supporters like you, the Crowden Music Center could not exist. The actual costs of offering classes for the community and running the school are not covered by tuition alone. To keep classes at both TCS and CCMC affordable to a broad range of people, we count on the generosity of parents, graduates, friends, corporations, and institutions.

With your assistance, Crowden provides the Bay Area with:

  • Excellence in music education, training, and performance opportunities
  • Crowden Center for Music in the Community, which provides an extensive range of after school, weekend, and summer lessons, classes, ensembles, and camps serving over 1,000 children and adults each year
  • Moderate tuition with financial aid available to qualified students
  • Faculty drawn from the Bay Area’s premier professional musicians and teachers
  • Artistic support from musicians of international and national renown
  • The Sundays @ Four chamber music series, which provides world-class performances at accessible prices for the Bay Area community
  • The John Adams Young Composers Program for pre-collegiate students
  • The Crowden School, a day school for grades four through eight, providing a full academic curriculum designed to foster intellectual and emotional maturity through the development of analytical and critical thinking, and a distinguished daily music program with an emphasis on chamber music. Tuition is offered at a level substantially below the cost of educating each child.
