Brad Johnson

B.A., Cal State San Bernardino (English)
Ph.D., University of California, Berkeley (English)

Brad Johnson was born and raised in the sunny climes of southern California. When Brad went off to college, at Cal State San Bernardino, his father instructed him to study business; instead, he finished college with a B.A. in English, a head full of poems, and no regrets. He did master's work in composition and eventually migrated north, to pursue his English Ph.D. at UC Berkeley. His dissertation, titled “Birthed Effects: Shakespeare's Generation of Monsters,” was an examination of congenital deformities in Shakespearean literature.

Brad lives in Berkeley with his wife, Katie Hafner, and their three children--Benjamin, Veronica and Zoe--as well as a dog, a cat, three Amazon parrots, three snakes, three geckos, several fish, and a pet rat named the Emperor Fabulous.
