Eleanor Briccetti

Eleanor Briccetti is the former music director and conductor of the Indianapolis Youth Orchestra, and the former director of the Children's String Academy of Indianapolis, Inc., which numbered 105 students ranging in age from 4 to 16. She spent 13 years as Artist-in-Residence at the University of Indianapolis , where she taught violin and chamber music, a violin pedagogy class, conducted a chamber orchestra, and directed the Young Violinists and Cellists program. She was the founder and first violinist of the Indianapolis Chamber Players, a group of professional musicians who performed regularly at the University of Indianapolis and throughout central Indiana .
From 1968 to 1978 Eleanor was Principal Second Violinist of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. She has been a visiting professor at Indiana University in Bloomington , and taught for seven summers at the Indiana University String Academy . She has participated in the Aspen Music Festival, the Yale Summer School of Music and Art, and has taught at the National Music Camp in Interlochen , Michigan . Eleanor has toured with the St. Louis Symphony to Europe , and to Carnegie Hall for two concerts as part of the 100 th Anniversary Celebration of Carnegie Hall. She received her training at Oberlin College and Conservatory and Indiana University, and has studied with Ivan Galamian, Franko Gulli, David Dawson and Broadus Erle.
