Eleanor Katari
M.A., Tufts University
Eleanor Katari has wanted to be a teacher since she was 11 years old. Since then, she has taught at private and public schools in North Carolina, Indiana, Massachusetts, and California. She holds a Masters in Teaching from Tufts University, with a focus specifically on working with 5th - 8th graders, and is California Certified in both English and Social Studies.
Eleanor brings to her teaching practice a strong belief in the magical reality of the everyday, that the truest answer will be the most interesting one, and that the stories we are currently embedded in are real, important, and culturally constructed. She believes in nurturing the whole child, which also means finding the edges of their current capabilities and encouraging them, enticing them to step out just a little bit more.
When she's not curled up with a good book, Eleanor enjoys chasing around her two-year-old daughter and visiting her in-laws in India. She lives in Oakland. Eleanor is thrilled to be a part of the Crowden School community.
