Reenie Charrière

BA, Simmons College

MFA, Maine College of Art

Reenie Charrière is a mixed-media artist working with photography, painting, and sculptural installations. Her work emphasizes the resurgence of nature in urban spaces. She recently received a travel scholarship from the Roderick Dew Fund from the Maine College of Art to document the takeover of vegetation in New Orleans since Hurricaine Katrina.

Reenie has spent the past seven years teaching Visual Arts and Dance as an artist-in-residence at Irvington High School in Fremont, Westlake Middle School in Oakland, and George Peabody Elementary School in San Francisco. Prior to specializing in Visual Arts, Reenie taught Ballet and Modern Dance to students of all ages at Shawl Anderson Dance Center, as well as Berkeley Ballet Theatre and Berkeley City Ballet. She also performed and choreographed dance theatre with her husband Maurice.

Reenie is thrilled to be teaching the imaginative students at the Crowden School.
