Sara Usher

Certificate of Performance, Yale Graduate School of Music
Sara Usher attended Boston University and the Yale School of Music, receiving the Performance Certificate in 1975. After a year with the New Haven Symphony she moved to the Bay Area. Ms. Usher has been on the faculty of the Crowden Day School since 1999 and has served as Lower School music coordinator for the past five years. She teaches at CCMC as a private teacher and chamber music coach. She directed CCMC’s Scrape, Squawk and Bang program for the past two summers and also co-directs the Home School and Summer Music and Opera programs. Ms. Usher served on the board for the Cazadero Performing Arts Camp for six years after which she developed the “Jumpstart in Music” program for CAZ, a weekend retreat opportunity for Bay Area school children to play music in the redwoods. A founding member of the Foxglove Ensemble and Elixir, Sara is an active chamber musician in the Bay area. She enjoys teaching privately in her home, and as a free lance violinist plays with the San Francisco Opera and Philharmonia Baroque orchestras.
