Yiorgos Vassilandonakis

Yiorgos Vassilandonakis is a composer, conductor, music theorist and educator, currently teaching Composition and Music Theory at UC Berkeley. He holds MA and PhD degrees from Berkeley. Further advanced studies include composition with Philippe Leroux in Paris, as the recipient of the Ladd Prix de Paris, as well as film scoring studies with Jerry Goldsmith at UCLA.  Mr. Vassilandonakis' portfolio includes music commissioned by leading groups and foundations and performed widely in both Europe and the US, including works for opera, orchestra, vocal and chamber groups, as well as several scores for film and TV. He has many additional musical interests, including classical and jazz guitar, improvisation, electronic music, and recording engineering and production techniques. In addition to his teaching at UCB and TCS, Mr. Vassilandonakis has taught at the Centre de Création Musicale, Iannis Xenakis in Paris and will also be joining the faculty of the new John Adams Young Composer's Program this year.
