Supporting Crowden with Scrip
Scrip allows you to raise money for Crowden while you shop. There are two types of scrip: paper scrip and electronic scrip. Paper scrip are like gift certificates you can buy and use at grocery stores and other retail establishments. When you buy the paper scrip, a percentage of the money you pay for the certificates goes to Crowden.
Electronic scrip is even easier. Every time you use your credit, debit, or frequent shopper card at a participating retailer, Crowden gets a percentage of the sale. Anyone can support Crowden simply by registering their cards, so it's a great way to get friends and family involved at no cost to them.
The money from scrip is collected by the PTN and allocated to special projects, such as the library expansion we completed in the summer of 2006 and the future improvement of the sound in the auditorium.
Note: Not everyone uses the term “scrip.” Albertsons uses the term “community partnership” and Washington Mutual uses “WaMoola for Schools.”
Buying Paper Scrip
Click a link below to order paper scrip to bring to a store in place of cash. When we get your order, we will email you to let you know when it is available for pick-up at the school. Please be prepared to pay for the scrip with a check made out to TCS Scrip.
Signing Up for Electronic Scrip
Many retailers use eScrip, so you can register with multiple retailers at once. Other retailers require that you sign up separately, as described below. Once you have linked your cards, participating stores donate money to Crowden every time you use your cards there.
If you have already signed up for a scrip program with a different school and want to start supporting Crowden instead, you can simply go back online and change the linked school to Crowden.
eScrip
Go to http://www.escrip.com/ to link your credit cards to Crowden. A complete list of participating merchants can be found at this site. Note that eScrip needs renewing every year (they may send you an email reminder); renewing takes only a few seconds (one click).
Albertsons
To become a Community Partner go to http://www.albertsons.com/.
You need to know your Preferred Savings Card number. It is listed on the card given you when you sign up for savings. You also need to know Crowden’s Community Partners number: 49-000112643.
Safeway
You can sign up for Safeway either by filling out a form available at stores or by going online to http://www.escrip.com/. After you enter your ZIP code, Crowden will appear in the list of participating schools. When you buy groceries using your Safeway card, the percentage donated to Crowden will be automatically calculated and forwarded to Crowden.
Target
Target has a “Take Charge of Education” plan. You must sign up for a Target Store credit card or a Target Visa card. If you sign up in the store when you are shopping, you almost always get a 10% discount. You will need to know Crowden’s address: 1475 Rose Street, Berkeley, CA 94702.
You can also sign up online at http://www.target.com/.
Washington Mutual
You can link your Visa check card (ATM card) to Crowden. When you make a purchase using this card, Washington Mutual donates a percentage of the amount to the school.
