The Crowden School for fourth through eighth grade in Berkeley

Founded in 1983 by violinist Anne Crowden.

Enrollment: 68 students in grades 4–8

Daily schedule: 8am–3:30pm. Every day begins with two hours of music instruction from 8am–10am prior to the start of the academic day.

Average class size: 13

Student to teacher ratio: 3 to 1

Tuition for 2017-2018 academic year:

      • $23,250 for grades 4–5
      • $25,425 for grades 68

Membership: The school is a member of the East Bay Independent Schools Association (EBISA) and Chamber Music America.

Financial aid: Approximately 50% of the student body receives financial assistance.

After-school child care: The school opens at 7:40am and Aftercare is available from 3:45–6:00pm.
