Piano Classes

Ages 5–16

Crowden offers enriching opportunities for pianists at every level. Very beginners can learn the fundamentals of piano playing and music reading in a supportive group environment to get them started on their musical journeys. Intermediate and advanced players can explore ensemble repertoire with a partner, such as two-piano and four-hand works in our Piano Duos program.

Beginning Piano and Music Fundamentals

Beginning Piano and Music Fundamentals
Ages 5–8

In this hands-on introductory class, students learn beginning piano skills and fundamentals of music literacy, including basic notation, rhythms, time signatures, and intervals. Upon successful completion of this one-semester class, students are encouraged to continue with private lessons on an instrument of their choice.

Course Description

Students are expected to practice piano assignments at home, and therefore need daily access to a piano or a keyboard on a stand with full-sized weighted keys.

Max class size: 4 students.

How to Enroll

Submit a completed registration form to Crowden. Registrations are accepted until the class is filled. Crowden will contact registrants to schedule a brief placement interview. Availability is limited and placements are not guaranteed.

Piano Duos

Piano Duos (NEW!)

Ages 9–16

Wednesdays, 5:30–7pm
September 11–June 3
Tuition: $1625 per year

In this program, intermediate and advanced pianists are matched with a partner to work on two-piano or four-hand repertoire. Our experienced faculty coach participants to develop their ensemble and sight-reading skills. Partners performs in public recitals several times each year.

Students are required to study privately with a teacher of their choice. Audition required.

How to Enroll

Submit a completed registration form to Crowden before August 15, 2019. Crowden will contact registrants to schedule an audition. Mid-year applicants are welcome as space permits.

For auditions, applicants should be prepared to play two pieces in contrasting style and to sight-read a short excerpt. Upon review of auditions, Crowden will contact students regarding acceptance into the programs for which they have applied. Payment is due before the first class meeting.
