Pia Siegwart, a native of Switzerland, holds an equivalent of a master’s degree in piano and piano pedagogy from the conservatory in Luzern, Switzerland.
For over 33 years, she’s been teaching individual and group piano lessons to children and adults at several music schools in Switzerland. Since 2002 she has maintained a private studio at her home in Berkeley. She enjoys teaching students of all ages and backgrounds. She provides students with a wide repertoire of creative learning opportunities, and prepares interested students for the Certificate Merit Program and the Junior Festivals of the National Federation of Music Clubs.
Pia has received post-graduate training in various music pedagogical methods, among them “Piano Group Teaching” by Wolfgang Schmidt-Köngernheim, Musikakademie Mainz, “Taketina Rhythm Awareness in Individual Music Instruction” by Martin Ledergerber, Luzern. 2006 she completed the training as an Orff Music Teacher at Mills College in Oakland and The San Francisco School. After completing the “Music Mind Games” (MMG) teacher’s training in 2006 with Michiko Yurko, the creator of MMG, she’s been teaching this method to children’s groups and in MMG workshops to music teachers in California and Switzerland. She has been translating the MMG Method into German.
Pia is a member of the California Music Teacher’s Association and the National Federation of Music Clubs.
