Rebecca Wishnia is an Oakland-based violinist and music educator. She is currently the violin/viola instructor at Las Positas College and at New World Music Academy, where she also co-directs the SoundArts Chamber Music Program. Rebecca is a faculty member of the non-profit organization Villa Sinfonia, and has served a variety of other educational institutions, including the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra. In her private studio, Rebecca works with enthusiastic violinists of all ages. In 2017, her teaching was the subject of a short documentary produced by SFGovTv.
Rebecca is passionate about developing new materials for student violinists; her arrangements and other pedagogical resources are available for download on her website, rebeccawishnia.com. When not teaching, Rebecca plays with orchestras across the greater Bay Area. She is also active as a music critic for the San Francisco Classical Voice; her writing has also been featured in VAN Magazine and the San Francisco Chronicle, among others.
