Elementary School
That Begins in Harmony

At Crowden, learning begins with music—and opens into a world of creativity, critical thinking, and confident connection.

a morning that lights up the brain

Every day begins with music—not as an extracurricular, but as a foundation for how children learn to listen, focus, collaborate, and express themselves.

Our elementary grade students:

  • Learn to hear and trust their own voice
  • Experience how powerful it feels to create something together
  • Develop focus, patience, and resilience through practice

“Elementary at Crowden set the tone. When I reached later grades, I already knew how to focus, ask good questions, and keep going when work got challenging.”

ACADEMICS THAT INSPIRE CONFIDENCE

Students prioritize understanding over speed, engaging deeply rather than racing through content.

Crowden’s academic program emphasizes:

  • Project-based learning
  • Cross-disciplinary thinking and synthesis
  • Writing, discussion, and revision as core practices
  • Intellectual rigor through questioning, patience, and precision

Creativity in Every Corner

In the art studio, children use drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media to explore ideas and build confidence through experimentation. Art at Crowden helps young students build problem-solving muscles and experience the joy of driving projects to completion.

Discipline and Focus

PE at Crowden supports wellbeing, teamwork, and body awareness. Students learn what it means to be part of a group striving toward a shared goal—just like chamber musicians.

Music Immersion

Whether learning a new instrument or tackling a complex concept, Crowden students build the resilience to keep going when things get hard. With daily opportunities to practice, revise, and perform, they develop discipline, patience, and the confidence to meet challenges head-on.

Building Resilience and Grit

All students participate in developmentally appropriate advisory time focused on emotional wellbeing, empathy, and communication. They practice sharing feelings, listening to others, navigating friendships, and building self-awareness and perseverance.
