Youth Chamber Music

Crowden's Youth Chamber Music program offers intermediate to advanced string players and pianists the chance to study and perform the world's greatest repertoire under the guidance of renowned faculty. Students gain a deeper understanding of timbre, texture, balance, expression, technique, and interpretation, while strengthening their listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Course Description

One 90-minute coaching session per week. Choose one session from the following days and times:

  • Tuesdays | 5:30 to 7pm -or- 7 to 8:30pm
  • Saturdays | 9:30 to 11am -or- 11 to 12:30pm

(Alternative coaching times subject to availability) 

Fall Session: 13 weeks | September 8, 2026 to December 8, 2026 | $1620
Winter Session: 11 weeks | December 15, 2026 to March 9, 2027 | $1380
Spring Session: 11 weeks | March 13, 2027 to June 1, 2027 | $1380

A $35 registration fee applies to each session.

Youth Chamber Music Concerts:

Chamber music demands that each player perform independently while staying attuned to the rest of the ensemble. Our faculty of renowned chamber musicians guides intermediate to advanced string players and pianists toward a deeper understanding of timbre, texture, balance, expression, technique, and interpretation, sharpening the listening and communication skills at the heart of great ensemble playing.

This world-class program gives older students the chance to deepen their musicianship through the study and performance of the world’s greatest chamber music repertoire — and to become part of a community of committed, inspired young musicians whose musical friendships and shared memories last a lifetime.

Rehearsals meet Tuesday afternoons or Saturday mornings for a 90-minute coaching session, with ensembles performing in recitals throughout the year. Select ensembles may also be invited to participate in outside performances, master classes, festivals, and competitions.

Audition Requirements

2 pieces in contrasting styles (up to 10 minutes total)

Once registered, you will receive a link to schedule your student’s audition. Limited in-person auditions are available and are scheduled on a first-come, first served basis. Alternative virtual auditions or video submissions via email may be arranged on request. Upon review of auditions, Crowden will contact students regarding acceptance into the programs for which they have applied. Students must study privately with a teacher of their choice.
