Course Description
John Zientek, Ukulele & Guitar Faculty
Cheerful, approachable, and impossible not to love — the ukulele is the perfect first instrument. In this small-group class for our youngest musicians, children dive into the joy of playing music almost from the very first lesson.
With its soft strings and compact size, the ukulele fits little hands beautifully and makes the early wins come fast. Over the semester, students build a genuine musical foundation — learning to read notes and charts, feeling rhythms in their bodies and their strumming hands, and working through their first real pieces. The skills they build here translate directly to a lifetime of playing.
This class is also a natural bridge to guitar. As students grow in ability and in hand size they’ll be ready to make that exciting leap to six strings with confidence and a head start.
