Biography

Kevin Rogers is a passionate educator, new music advocate, a violinist/violist, and improviser who has dedicated his career to the discovery and wonder of art for our time. He founded Friction Quartet, whose mission is to expand the modern chamber music experience, and is a member of the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, and previously was the community engagement manager at the San Francisco Conservatory of music.

At SFCM, Kevin has worn many hats: as a chamber music coach in both the collegiate and pre-college programs, he has guided the next generation of ensemble musicians through the craft of chamber music. As Community Engagement Manager, he developed initiatives to bring collegiate students beyond the Conservatory’s walls and into active dialogue with the broader San Francisco community.

Kevin holds degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the University of South Carolina, where he studied under renowned musicians Bettina Mussumeli and William Terwilliger respectively. This deep foundation in the ergonomics of violin playing shapes every dimension of his work as a performer, educator, and advocate of music. Kevin fulfills his vision by shaping the landscape of modern classical music, teaching violin, viola, and chamber music, and community building.
