All-School Reading Project: Crowden Students Share Their Love of Reading

At Crowden School, the love of reading is celebrated across every grade level.

Last June, all students were invited to take part in our All-School Reading Project, a summer reading initiative designed to encourage curiosity, literacy enrichment, and community connection. Each child selected at least one book they truly enjoyed and brought it to class at the start of the school year.

Over the past several weeks, teachers and students have explored these books through lessons, discussions, and creative projects. From plot diagrams and character descriptions to artistic depictions of favorite scenes, each grade showcased its work in unique and engaging ways.

On Friday, the school came together for a gallery walk, where students viewed and appreciated each other’s projects. Using sticky notes, classmates shared positive, specific feedback, signing their names to foster a sense of connection. Older students, including our fifth graders, supported kindergarteners in presenting their projects, highlighting Crowden’s collaborative and close-knit community.

Next week, students will receive their feedback notes, and projects will be displayed in the hallways for families and visitors to enjoy. The All School Reading Project not only highlights Crowden’s commitment to strong academics and joyful learning but also underscores how literacy, creativity, and community come together at our school.

Stay up to date with the blog for the many ways Crowden students to share their love of reading and to continue fostering a lifelong passion for learning.
