Young Musician Primer | A Harmony Road™ Music Course

Summer 2026 4-Week Session

Ages: 6-8 years (1st-3rd grade) | Class Length: 45 minutes

August 2-23, 2026 | Sundays at 10:00am

Young Musician Primer gives children ages 6 to 8 a meaningful and joyful first experience of structured music learning. This course is designed both to give students a strong musical foundation and to help parents and teachers gauge each child’s readiness for continuing study — all within a welcoming, energetic group environment.

Each 45-minute class weaves together singing, rhythm, keyboard play, note reading, and creative exploration. Children develop pitch awareness and inner hearing through solfege, build a strong sense of pulse through movement and rhythm games, and begin reading music by connecting what they see on the page to what they hear and feel. At the keyboard, hand shape and finger awareness grow naturally as the voice leads the fingers. Students are also encouraged to create their own melodies, lyrics, and artwork — bringing their emerging musical voice to life from the very start.

What to Expect

Solfege and ear training · Rhythm games and percussion · Keyboard geography and solo play · Note reading and sight singing · Creative composition and expression
