Ensemble Training

In our ensemble classes, students develop their collaborative playing, artistic, technical, and general musicianship skills while experiencing the joy of making music with friends and our expert faculty coaches.

Tuesdays at Crowden are dedicated to chamber music

Tuesday Ensemble Training

Preparatory String Ensemble

Ages 9–12

Tuesdays, 4–5:30pm
September 11–June 4
Tuition: $1,200 per year

In this ensemble for mixed strings, students work on following a conductor, playing as a group, intonation, bowing, and phrasing. Some rehearsal time is devoted to the development of musicianship skills such as ear training and note-reading. Repertoire includes beginning-level arrangements of standard string orchestra literature.

Students are required to study privately with a teacher of their choice. Audition required.

Chamber Orchestra

Ages 11–15

Tuesdays, 4–5:30pm
September 11–June 4
Tuition: $1,200 per year

Crowden’s Chamber Orchestra is intended for string players with advanced reading ability and instrumental technique.

Participants strengthen ensemble-playing skills through the study of standard string orchestra literature. This advanced-level ensemble provides an orchestral experience, while still being small enough to allow participants to develop the interpersonal, collaborative skills required for chamber music.

Students are required to study privately with a teacher of their choice. Audition required.
