Private Lessons
Year-long program
Private lessons are the foundation of a musical education, providing the concentrated work and individual attention needed to develop a student's skills and enthusiasm.
We offer private lessons for violin, viola, cello, double bass, piano, flute, guitar, and composition. For ages 3 and up, also see Suzuki Strings.
Crowden has a limited number of openings for new students each fall, and placement is subject to teacher availability.
Course Description
Crowden’s private lesson faculty members are selected from among the area’s finest musicians and music educators to provide a focused, supportive, and well-rounded musical education for every ability level. (See our faculty roster!)
Weekly lessons are scheduled by mutual arrangement (within Crowden calendar).
Private lesson tuition includes weekly lessons and free opportunities to participate in Crowden student recitals. Additionally, private lesson students are encouraged to participate in Crowden’s ensemble programs to reinforce and complement the skills learned in their private lessons.

Students who are interested in private lessons start by scheduling a placement interview, during which Crowden staff evaluate the student’s readiness. Following the interview, students are matched with a teacher based on playing level, learning style, and schedule.
Crowden will contact registrants to schedule a brief placement interview. Availability is limited and placements are not guaranteed.
New students will start lessons after September 6, 2024. Weekly lessons are scheduled by mutual arrangement (within Crowden calendar).
NEW OFFERING: Crowden's Jury Track
Crowden's jury track program is for motivated intermediate to advanced students who would like additional feedback and opportunities beyond their weekly lessons with teachers and monthly recitals. For a low additional tuition fee of $100, students (encouraged and nominated by teachers) will be able to participate in up to three recitals designated for adjudication and a workshop led by a guest artist.
