Lessons, Classes, and Camps

Designed for adult musicians of varying experience levels, this program offers the opportunity to rehearse and perform chamber music in a supportive and engaging ensemble environment.

This five-day intensive workshop features daily coached rehearsals, as well as daily master classes and independent rehearsal time. 

Explore daily breath clinics, ear training, and sight reading sessions. Dedicated independent rehearsal time is provided for participants to grow their vocal range.

This group class is a great way to explore the cello for the first time. Students learn the parts of the instrument and bow as well as proper playing position and posture. They will be introduced to basic rhythms, note reading, and introductory pieces.

In our piano group classes, students develop an understanding of musical principles while exploring the joys of playing music.

Students learn the basics of how to play the ukulele. They will be introduced to basic rhythms, note & chart reading, and introductory pieces.

This group class is a great way to explore the violin for the first time. Students learn the parts of the instrument and bow as well as proper positioning form. They will be introduced to basic rhythms, note reading, and introductory pieces.

Cello study at Crowden School emphasizes tone production, phrasing, and expressive depth, supported by personalized instruction that strengthens both technique and musical confidence.

Develop ensemble playing skills through the performance and study of the world’s greatest chamber music masterworks!

In the Chamber Orchestra, students learn to follow a conductor and engage with a variety of high quality repertoire. While there is some range of levels in the group, students are expected to be comfortable with shifting and vibrato before auditioning.

Composition lessons at Crowden School develop each student’s musical voice through guided exploration of structure, harmony, and form, helping students translate ideas into original work with clarity and intention.

Double bass lessons at Crowden School focus on foundational technique, rhythmic clarity, and tonal strength, helping students build confidence and control across the instrument.

Flute study at Crowden School refines breath control, tone clarity, and articulation through focused, one-on-one instruction, supporting clear and expressive playing.

Crowden's John Adams Young Composers program was founded in honor of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer John Adams, who has a long association with Crowden, on the occasion of his 60th birthday. The heart of our mission is to guide and mentor our students through the formative stages of their creative growth as composers

A creative workshop for young composers of all levels, students will compose a suite of miniatures for voice and piano. Our accomplished faculty and guest artists provide guidance and feedback as participants refine their work. The camp culminates in a public performance of student works by professional musicians.
